Lebanon: Parents sell their daughter, and security arrests those involved

The Baalbek faction of the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces in Lebanon arrested two parents who had sold their newborn daughter, in addition to other persons involved.

The Public Relations Division of the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces said that "on 10/3-2022, information was available to the Baalbek faction in the regional gendarmerie unit about people selling a newborn girl who was born in a Bekaa hospital."

And she added: "Immediately, after the investigations and investigations carried out by the aforementioned faction, their identities were identified and arrested, and they are: A. T. (born in 1984 Syrian), and Y.A. (born in 1987 in Syria), and T.A. (born in 1981 as a Lebanese citizen), A.H. (born in 2002 as a Syrian), and JH (born in 1996 in Syria). A sum of 7 million Lebanese pounds was also seized.

She indicated that "by investigating the detainees, they confessed what was attributed to them, and it was found that the detainee (A.T.) and his wife (Y.A.) sold their child to the third detainee, who is wanted by the judiciary under an arrest warrant for a drug offense, by (A. H) and his sister (JH), in exchange for an amount of 7,000,000 LBP as an advance payment and payment of the delivery costs to the hospital administration, amounting to 20,000,000 LBP, in addition to an amount of 5,000,000 LBP upon receiving the newborn.
