Lebanese security arrests parents who sold their daughter for $500

The Lebanese security authorities in the city of Baalbek arrested two parents who had sold their newborn daughter, in addition to others involved.

The Public Relations Division of the General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces said that information was available about people selling a newborn girl who was born in a Bekaa hospital.

She added: "Immediately, and after investigations and investigations carried out by the concerned authorities, their identities were identified and arrested, and they are both a Syrian man and his wife, in cooperation with others of Lebanese and Syrian nationalities," according to a number of local newspapers and websites.

She indicated that “by investigating the detainees, they confessed what was attributed to them, and it was found that the detainee and his wife had sold their child to the third detainee, who is wanted by the judiciary under an arrest warrant for a drug offense, in exchange for an amount of 7 million Lebanese pounds, as an advance payment and payment of birth costs to the hospital administration, In addition to an amount of 5 million upon the delivery of the newborn, equivalent to approximately 500 US dollars.
