The deadline for claiming the "special survivor benefit" to be paid to the survivors of those who died from asbestos health damage is approaching the 27th of this month.

Support groups for patients and bereaved families have decided to respond to telephone consultations regarding benefits free of charge from the 18th, and are calling for consultation if they have any idea.

Asbestos has been used as a building material in various places, and the incubation period until the onset of lung cancer is long, so the whole picture of health damage has not been clarified.

The "Special Survivor Benefit" was set up to relieve the bereaved families of workers who died due to health damage caused by asbestos, who could not claim compensation for work-related accidents more than five years after their death. The deadline is approaching the 27th of this month.

The "Mesothelioma / Asbestos Disease / Patients and Family Association" estimates that at least 20,000 bereaved families will not be able to claim after the deadline, and will be available for free telephone consultation from the 18th to the 3rd. I am.

Keiichi Matsushima, Vice Chairman of this organization, said, "There are many bereaved families who have noticed the damage more than five years after their death. Anything is fine, so please consult with us if you have any idea."
