The coronavirus shutdown has been hard on many of us, with many losing their jobs and businesses while many struggled to feed their families.

In this context, Sheikh Yusuf, a man from the Indian state of Maharashtra, said he was forced to buy a horse during the lockdown amid rising fuel prices.

According to Indian websites that circulated his story, Yusuf works as an assistant in a laboratory in a college in Maharashtra, and said that the cost of traveling by motorcycle or public transport has become very expensive, as gasoline prices have increased.

After that, he had one choice - to buy a horse for mobility.

Youssef added that he bought the horse for 40,000 rupees ($526) and is still moving on to work on it.

He even named his horse "Jejar".

"I bought it during lockdown. The horse as a means of transportation is a possible option" amid high fuel prices.

"I work as a lab assistant in a college, and even today, I use my horse for mobility. I keep it fit and healthy."

Meanwhile, India's Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri assured on Tuesday that there would be no shortage of crude oil in the country amid the Russia-Ukraine war.

"I assure you all that there will be no shortage of crude oil.
