Maria Aljochina is one of the most prominent members of the artist collective Pussy Riot and a well-known opposition voice in Russia.

It has now been almost two weeks since Anders Teglund received a text message that she had been arrested by secret police during a taxi journey.

In the new video, Aljochina smiles at the camera while she is first away by police.

- When I saw the video on twitter, I was very happy to see that she is her ordinary person.

She always smiles when she is arrested, it is her weapon, says Anders Teglund.

"New, extremely totalitarian situation"

Despite the sign of life from Maria Aljochina, Anders Teglund is still worried as the regime on previous occasions has been harsh on Pussy Riot members to set an example.

- She has been arrested several times, but this time it feels more serious.

Because now the regime in Russia is entering a new, extremely totalitarian situation.

I get worried when I think about what might happen.

I have my fears that she will be imprisoned for a long time and may not survive, says Anders Teglund.

Warned for Putin for years

In 2018, Anders Teglund published Maria Aljochina's book Riot Days.

There she describes, among other things, the two years in prison she received for performing "Virgin Mary, save us from Putin" inside the Cathedral of the Savior in Moscow.

In connection with the book launch, she was also in Sweden.

- She said quite often when she was here that "Putin will never be satisfied".

And what that means is starting to be realized in a completely different way today, says Anders Teglund.
