Focus on how the famous teacher workstation cultivates a "can't take" teacher team for the countryside

Open "New Window" for Village Primary School Teachers

"Only after a teacher's vision can be opened, can the classroom be opened and the students open." In the past three years, Zhang Yiwen, the principal of Hangzhou Binjiang Experimental Primary School and a super teacher with more than 30 years of teaching experience, established a famous teacher workstation in Danzhai, bringing 484 famous teachers to more than 1,500 kilometers. Danzhai outside the village sends classes to teach, with a combination of classroom teaching, opinion reports, and textbook interpretation, opening a "new window" for village teachers, and cultivating a group of high-quality teachers for the local area.

Wang Bingjin taught mathematics at Yanying Primary School in Danzhai County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province for 5 years. Before, he felt that the educational theories of "teaching according to aptitude" and "changing passive indoctrination to active participation" were like "painting cakes" in reality. difficult to achieve.

At the end of 2018, after listening to the demonstration class given by Zhang Yiwen, the principal of Hangzhou Binjiang Experimental Primary School, in the lecture hall of the County Science and Education Bureau, Wang Bingjin found that these theories "have practical templates" in the course of lesson preparation and class.

"The teacher's vision opens up the classroom and the students." In the past three years, Zhang Yiwen, the principal of Binjiang Experimental Primary School and a super teacher with more than 30 years of teaching experience, established a famous teacher workstation in Danzhai, driving 484 famous teachers to Danzhai, which is more than 1,500 kilometers away. Sending lessons to teaching, by combining classroom teaching, opinion reports, and textbook interpretation, opens a "new window" for village teachers, and cultivates a group of high-quality teachers for the local area.

"Believe in our children"

In 2015, Binjiang District of Hangzhou City and Danzhai County signed an East-West Strategic Poverty Alleviation Agreement.

Due to the weak mathematical foundation of primary schools in Danzhai, Zhang Yiwen came to Danzhai for training in 2018 at the invitation of the Danzhai County Science and Education Bureau as part of the poverty alleviation cooperation between the East and the West.

When he first came to Guizhou, Zhang Yiwen found that the local mathematics teachers still gave priority to passive indoctrination.

"Because of economic conditions and other constraints, there are few opportunities for local teachers to train and learn, and most of them are just scratching the surface and cannot form practical experience." Zhang Yiwen said.

The new training model brings new ideas to local teachers.

During the summer vacation of 2020, due to the new crown pneumonia epidemic, it was impossible to organize children to participate in training. Zhang Yiwen's team asked math teachers from Danzhai to sit below to simulate students.

Wang Bingjin is also one of the "students", "When I really sat in the student's seat and thought about Mr. Zhang's question, I understood why some questions were thrown and the students did not respond. I would also think that if it were me, I would How do you ask? Why do you ask that?"

Zhang Yiwen has taught in the western countryside for more than 10 years. He believes that the talents of urban children and rural children are not very different. "So in class, it is necessary to stimulate and awaken children's potential thinking ability."

Zhang Yiwen believes that in a high-quality mathematics class, "everyone has a different opportunity".

For example, to solve a quadratic linear equation in fourth grade, students with good grades can solve it quickly, but how can students who can't do it right?

When the "a" and "b" in the question are replaced by circles and triangles, and the transformation of figures and numbers learned in the second grade is used to simplify the question, students with a slightly poorer foundation can also gain a sense of accomplishment.

"In this way, children with a poor foundation can understand, and children who have learned and need to improve will also gain new gains," Wang Bingjin said with emotion, "We have to believe in children, let them do more, express more, and feel more, instead of becoming a 'marionette puppet' '."

After the establishment of Zhang Yiwen's famous teacher workstation, it attracted famous teachers and public welfare projects from Binjiang to enter Danzhai.

Six teachers, including Li Fang, an art teacher and researcher in Hangzhou, Hu Gengmin, a moral education researcher in Binjiang District, Cao Qunzhen, an English teaching and researcher in Binjiang District, and Feng Chenli, a famous language teacher in Binjiang District, also established a famous teacher workstation.

In addition to delivering courses offline, these famous teacher workstations also rely on the network platform to carry out aerial classrooms.

Since 2021, Binjiang District and Danzhai have carried out 15 online interactive trainings and 8,943 online training teachers.

But when hundreds of teachers sit in front of the big screen to watch the demonstration class, there are often problems such as poor network signal and insufficient concentration of teachers.

Every time there is a gap, it will inevitably cause a burst of riots.

"It's still a good face-to-face approach. Education is the communication between people." said Lin Hai, director of the Teacher Learning and Resource Center of the Danzhai County Science and Education Bureau.

On-the-spot communication can also stimulate the collision of ideas.

At the end of each training session, these famous teachers were surrounded by local teachers, "How did you come up with this method?" "Will you ignore us after you leave?" While Zhang Yiwen and other famous teachers answered patiently, they suggested Local teachers should also pay attention to methods and methods when imitating. "Due to the differences in the teaching environment, some links only take 3 minutes in Hangzhou, while children here need 5 minutes or even 8 minutes, so they need to be more patient."

Open the eyes of teachers

In September 2021, after Wang Bingjin and 4 other teachers came to Binjiang Experimental Primary School for a temporary exchange, they found that in addition to the objective gap between hardware facilities and teachers, in every teaching link, Danzhai teachers have a lot of room for improvement.

Taking homework assignments as an example, teachers at Binjiang will arrange assignments in layers according to the students' situation. There are not many homework during class, unit homework, and vacation homework, but they are all essences, which are progressive and form templates.

After that, it will be upgraded to version 2.0 and 3.0 every year according to the situation of new students.

Wang Bingjin said that in the past, when he assigned homework, he was often limited to after-school questions in national textbooks.

Sometimes students have mastered the knowledge points involved in the after-class questions, but cannot learn other knowledge points.

The teacher will also write some new questions on the blackboard, but they will be erased after they are finished. There is no systematic arrangement, and there is no template for the next class.

"The foundation is not well laid, let alone constantly upgrading."

Another situation that deeply impressed him is that due to the lack of aesthetic education courses, many children in the village lack the ability to continuously explore.

However, because of the many opportunities in school, children in Hangzhou absorb new things very quickly.

Once he dug out a batch of rubber band airplane models from materials donated by caring people, and took the children of his class to make them.

At first, the students were timid, as they stretched out their hands and shrank back for fear of breaking them.

After they assembled the first plane, children from other classes also gathered around the playground to watch, but just to join in the fun.

"I want to make their curiosity last longer," but Wang Bingjin was always confused because he couldn't explain deeper theoretical knowledge, "I also know that (the reason for flying) is lift, but no matter how deep the physical knowledge is, I will explain it. No. I'm in great pain, and I'm sorry for the child because of my lack of ability."

When he arrived in Binjiang, in order to broaden the horizons and enhance the self-confidence of the teachers in Danzhai, Zhang Yiwen not only took them to participate in daily teaching and research activities and classroom presentations, but also took them to the bookstore to buy books.

"The teacher (in it) is like crazy. When the time is up, if there are teachers who have not finished picking, Principal Zhang will give us more time to continue reading." Wang Bingjin said with a smile.

From "Send Teaching" to "Send Courses"

For a long time, Wang Chunping, the principal of Yangjia Primary School in Danzhai, has been struggling to keep teachers.

The average age of the 23 teachers in Yangjia Primary School is over 45 years old, and there is only one young teacher who is 35 years old, mainly with secondary vocational education.

"But now the school is short of teachers. Even if you want to improve the quality of teachers, you can't get anyone to go to Binjiang."

In order to solve this problem, Yang Yiwen also has plans.

In the future, every time a school in Danzhai sends a teacher to Binjiang to study, the education fund of Binjiang Experimental Primary School will give appropriate subsidies to the school to help them hire other teachers to make up their posts. "This will promote the healthy development of the school."

From 2020, Hangzhou Binjiang Experimental Primary School began to pair up to assist Yangjia Primary School in Danzhai County.

Faced with the various confusions raised by Wang Chunping, Zhang Yiwen suggested, "The principal should also have a broader vision for running a school, and teachers outside the walls can also be used by me, and we should make appropriate use of social forces."

After the two primary schools were paired, they not only donated new clothes, new tableware, new schoolbags and other learning and daily necessities to the students of Yangjia Primary School, but also replaced the old computers that were used in the school more than ten years ago and built more than 200 square meters of table tennis. ball room.

After renovating the hardware facilities, Zhang Yiwen hopes that the help will be transformed from "send teaching" to "send courses", and also provide teachers of extended courses such as physical education, art, and calligraphy in Yangjia Primary School. "They hired teachers from local social organizations. Professionals, we will pay the fees. I hope that in three to five years, it will lead to changes in the local education ecology and create a model for the revitalization of rural education in cooperation between the East and the West.”

"A single spark can start a prairie prairie fire." Lin Hai introduced that after returning to the Binjiang District, teachers on temporary duty should conduct secondary training for the teachers of the school, so as to spread their learning experience and insights on a wider scale.

In addition to teaching methods, Wang Bingjin also intends to better implement home-school cooperation.

During his home visits in Danzhai, he often met many left-behind children. He began to be in a daze when he was writing his homework, and when he asked, he realized that he was "missing Mom and Dad".

In addition, the ethnic minorities such as the Miao and Hui people in Danzhai have a strong wine culture and like to visit. Children often do not have a quiet learning environment after returning home.

The teachers of Binjiang Experimental Primary School communicate with parents about their children's learning situation almost every day, and there are various after-school tutoring models such as students recording short videos to explain to their classmates.

Wang Bingjin hopes to explore a home-school cooperation model with local characteristics.

"We always underestimate children's cognitive ability to the world." Now Wang Bingjin feels that the most fundamental and urgent thing is to change teachers' abilities and parents' attitudes.
