Last month, Snoop Dogg shook up the world of American hip-hop by buying the catalog of Death Row Records, thus taking control of the famous label.

A transaction that allowed him to recover the rights to his first two albums, namely

Doggystyle

(1993) and

The Doggfather

(1996), and a multitude of other albums by iconic rappers of the 90s. Nevertheless, this acquisition presents a major shortcoming since the rights to the albums recorded by 2Pac at Death Row, namely

All Eyez On Me

and

The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory

, are not included.

Indeed, these rights were transferred to the heirs last year.

But to hear from Snoop Dogg, it won't be long before these two showpieces find their way back to their original homes.

On the right track

“I have a good relationship with the heirs, and I'm pretty sure we'll be able to come to an agreement… Just to keep 2Pac working with Death Row now that Snoop Dogg has control of Death Row” , assured the rapper during an interview with Tidal.

Similarly, Snoop Dogg is hopeful of repatriating the rights to

The Chronic

, Dr. Dre's debut album.

Finally, in addition to these ambitions that could be described as heritage, the artist is also keen to sign new artists in order to restore this legendary label to its past splendour.

A job that he has already successfully started elsewhere by becoming a consultant for Def Jam Recordings.
