The streamer Jean Massiet welcomes Sunday on his Twitch channel on the main candidates for the presidential election, on the occasion of the "Debate of the century".

This political interview, organized with the creators of the "business of the century", aims to put the climate and ecology back into the political debate.

INTERVIEW

The political debate in the age of 2.0.

On Sunday, the main presidential candidates will answer questions from streamer Jean Massiet on the Twitch platform.

He will interview several candidates with journalist Paloma Moritz, including Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Anne Hidalgo, Yannick Jadot and Fabien Roussel.

Originally created for online video game players, Twitch is increasingly welcoming other types of content, including politics.

On his account followed by more than 145,000 people, Jean Massiet comments on political news every day.

Reaching young voters

"The first specificity of Twitch is the audience that we will succeed in reaching, because the audience of Twitch (and of my channel in particular) is young, very young, and much younger than the one who follows the 'classic audiovisual', explains Jean Massiet at the microphone of Europe 1. "My audience has an average age of 24. So the first advantage is to reach a wide target of young people, including those with little interest in politics."

"The second advantage is that we have facilities in terms of production because we are not on television," he adds.

"For example, we make the show last as long as we want. We can allow ourselves to give time to the debates and the explanation."

This program will be produced in the studio, the candidates will be physically present with the journalists.

An important requirement on the climate

This event is organized and financed by four NGOs and will be entirely devoted to climate-related issues.

While climate change is a source of concern for 92% of French people under 35, this theme is still too absent from the presidential campaign, according to Jean Massiet.

"The candidates focus most of their arguments around the issues of purchasing power, security and immigration. But the climate has always been a relatively secondary issue," he regrets.

"On this interview, we are very demanding. It is perhaps one of the only moments of the campaign where the candidates will have the opportunity to present their program in terms of ecology and climate", considers Jean Massiet.

“We want to hear what they propose in terms of ecology and how they intend to put France back on the trajectory of the Paris agreements, how they respond to the justice which summons them to come out of inaction. And then we will enter into The detail.

The debate of the century

will be watched live on Sunday on Jean Massiet's Twitch channel, from 4 p.m.
