At about 14:35 on February 16, 2022, a forest fire broke out in the Reku group of Xia'er Village, Xia'er Town, Jiulong County, Ganzi Prefecture. The fire area was 171.5 hectares, and the affected forest area was 76.0 hectares, with a total economic loss of 5.88 million yuan.
After the fire broke out, the local emergency evacuated and transferred 128 households and 483 people under threat near the fire site, with no casualties.
On February 19, the fire was put out.
According to the investigation by the public security organs of Sichuan Province, Ganzi Prefecture and Jiulong County, the cause of the fire was that under the action of strong wind, the staggered up and down mobile company's optical fiber traction steel rope and the 380-volt transmission line used by the Baita Brick Factory were lapped and short-circuited, resulting in a high-temperature arc, which caused the fire. The transmission line and the optical fiber traction steel rope partially melted, and the hook on the traction steel rope was softened and deformed by the high temperature of the arc and bounced to the ground, thereby igniting the grass on the ground and spreading disaster.
The interview pointed out that the forest and grassland firefighting work in Jiulong County, Ganzi Prefecture has outstanding problems such as insufficient ideological understanding, incomplete investigation and rectification of hidden dangers, insufficient emergency response preparations, irregular information reporting, and inadequate implementation of responsibility for guaranteeing leadership.
