Canneseries pays tribute to cult composer Lalo Schifrin

• Season 5 of Canneséries will be held from April 1 to 6 in Cannes. 

• The festival will host a Chinese series in competition for the first time. 

• During the closing ceremony of Canneséries, the Orchester de Cannes will pay tribute to Lalo Schifrin, the composer of

  Mission Impossible

, Hwang Dong-hyeok, expected on the pink carpet… The organizers of Canneséries unveiled this Tuesday during a press conference in Paris the very promising programming season 5 of the Riviera festival, which will be held in Cannes from April 1st to 5th.

They kept a few surprises for the seriesphiles unveiled this Wednesday at a press conference held in Cannes.

The first Chinese series in competition

Alban Lewi, the artistic director of the event, announced the list of ten short series in competition.

In the running,

, an American satirical comedy created, co-written and co-produced by Amanda Parris, on the place of black characters in the entertainment industry;

a French romantic comedy created by Camille Rosset, Elie Girard which follows two divorced people with roommates;

, a German anthology written by Matthias Thönnissen, Michael Halberstadt, Ben Rodrian;

, an anthology made up of 13 urban parables, “the first Chinese series in competition”, welcomes Alban Lewi;

, an Australian series that follows a middle-aged therapist increasingly affected by her patients;

, an Indian thriller about a young woman whose life is turned upside down when she rejects the advances of a teenage hacker;

, a dark coming-of-age drama by Santiago Mouriño and Pablo Balmaceda;

, a Norwegian series by Marie Hafting which asks how we manage when the person we love becomes radicalized on an online far-right forum;

animated series,

“the first 100% animated series in competition”, underlines the artistic director”;

and finally

, a Canadian teen drama set in New Garden Hills Valley High School.

A new Jury made up of 8 students from @Univ_CotedAzur is joining us this year to award the “Student Prize for the Best Short Series” in Competition!

A tribute to the composer of “Mission: Impossible”

For its fifth edition, the Canneséries festival will welcome the Orchester de Cannes, conducted by Benjamin Levy, during the closing ceremony.

“It's a dream for Benoit and me!

We are going to pay homage to Lalo Schifrin with a collaboration with the Cannes orchestra on the occasion of the closing ceremony”, exclaims Alban Lewi.
