The Cultural and Heritage Programs and Festivals Management Committee in Abu Dhabi announced the launch of the third leg of the “Al Dhafra Grand Championship for Kingfish Hunting for Men and Women”, in its second session, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler in the Al Dhafra region, which coincides with the Al Dhafra Maritime Festival on Al Mughaira Beach in Al Marfa City in Al Dhafra Region, from 17 to 26 March.

The third leg of the championship comes within the hunting season of kingfish in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and 20 prizes have been allocated to it for the men and women categories, with a value of 920,000 dirhams, as 10 centers are allocated to each category, and the winner of the first place in each category receives an amount of 120,000 dirhams, and the second place is 80 One thousand dirhams, third place 60,000 dirhams, fourth place 50,000 dirhams, fifth place 40,000 dirhams, sixth place 30,000 dirhams, and 20 thousand dirhams for each position from the seventh to the tenth.

Director of the Planning and Projects Department in the Cultural and Heritage Programs and Festivals Management Committee in Abu Dhabi, Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, said that the Al Dhafra Kanaad Hunting Championship for men and women witnessed, during the first and second stations (Dalma Championship and Al Mughaira Championship), wide participation of 1046 participants of different nationalities, including 970 participants. In the men's category, and 76 participants in the women's category.

Al Mazrouei pointed out that the tournament aims to introduce the coasts and islands of the Al Dhafra region, create an opportunity for amateurs to practice traditional fishing, activate and spread the fishing hobby, revive the spirit of competition between fishing enthusiasts, preserve marine safety and organize kingfisher fishing, in addition to maintaining competitions.
