A couple recently decided to invest in the restoration of a blockhouse from the Second World War located in Donchery (Ardennes).
The objective is to transform the building into an unusual and historic gîte.
Faced with the banks' refusal to finance, the project leaders launched a participatory campaign on February 1, reports France 3 Grand Est.
This crowdfunding operation will end on March 18.
This Monday, the couple had gathered only a third of the expected sum, or 1,637 euros, against 5,000 euros expected to start the first part of the work.
Eventually, the Ardennes hope to raise 20,000 euros and offer visitors to sleep "in immersion in May 1940".
40 square meters that were decisive
They explained that this 40 square meter blockhouse had played a major role during the breakthrough of Sedan in May 1940. If the first level of 5,000 euros is not reached, the money will be returned to the 32 contributors who, for the hour, participated in the crowdfunding of the project.
