The police at your fingertips.

This is the promise made by Gérald Darmanin, who formalized in front of the press the launch of the "My Security" application, promised by Emmanuel Macron in January in Nice.

Available free of charge on smartphones and tablets, it allows "citizens to have a gendarme or a policeman available in their pocket, who can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week", summarized a gendarmerie officer.

The desire of the Ministry of the Interior was to facilitate contact between the police and citizens, but also to better react to emergencies.

“You are a lady in the metro, you are annoyed by a man… You do not have to call 17 or wait to go home” to alert the police “without your attacker not realize that," the minister said.

Emergency calls, chat at any time with an agent, advice on the steps to follow in the event of violence, theft, threats or fraud or even filing a pre-complaint online, the application is subject to change.

From 2023, it will offer online complaints for damage to property.

By indicating his department of residence, the user can also consult on an interactive map the location of the nearest police stations and gendarmerie brigades, as well as their contact details and opening hours.

Targeted notifications can also be sent, such as the report of a road accident or information for the prevention of burglaries.
