A trial was held in which former president Hidetoshi Tanaka of Nihon University was accused of tax evasion, and the prosecution said, "It was a crime that used the position of the president of one of the largest universities in Japan, and there is strong social criticism." He was sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of 16 million yen.


"He regrets having unnecessarily anxious students and parents," said the former president.

Hidetoshi Tanaka (75), the former president of Nihon University, is about 118 million yen, including the former president of a medical corporation in Osaka City, who was charged with his back office, and the rebate received from the former director of Nihon University. He has been accused of violating the Income Tax Act for hiding his income and tax evading about 52 million yen for the two years of 2018 and the adult.

At a trial held at the Tokyo District Court on the 7th, the prosecution said, "I did not declare a large amount of cash from the people concerned by using my position as the president of one of the largest universities in Japan. He was sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of 16 million yen.



On the other hand, the defense sought a suspended sentence, saying, "I didn't ask for cash. I didn't know about the mandate fraud case, and I didn't realize that I was receiving fraudulent gains."

Finally, former President Tanaka said, "I'm sorry for making a noise. I regret having caused unnecessary anxiety to students and parents. I sincerely hope for the development of the university."



The trial will be completed in 7 days and the judgment will be handed down on the 29th of this month.
