The government plans to complete the delivery of soil from decontamination in Fukushima Prefecture after the accident at TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station to the interim storage facility by the end of the fiscal year. % Was carried out from various places and brought into the facility.

On the other hand, there are no concrete prospects for decontamination of difficult-to-return areas and final disposal outside Fukushima Prefecture, and issues remain.

Soil and vegetation from decontamination carried out in Fukushima Prefecture have been brought into the interim storage facility since 2015, and the national government plans to complete it by the end of the fiscal year.

According to the Ministry of the Environment, the amount of soil generated by decontamination in areas other than difficult-to-return areas amounted to approximately 14 million cubic meters, and by November last year, 92%, or 12.89 million cubic meters, had been shipped from various parts of the prefecture. Most of them were brought into the interim storage facility, such as being recycled.

Soil in some areas that could not be brought in due to the narrow transportation route is scheduled to be brought in next year.

On the other hand, among the difficult-to-return areas, decontamination is being promoted in the "specified reconstruction and regeneration base area" where decontamination and infrastructure development are carried out in advance, but in other areas, decontamination of necessary areas is being promoted. We are planning to start confirming the intentions of the residents from next year, and the concrete plan is yet to come.

In addition, although it is stipulated by law that the soil stored in the interim storage facility should be finally disposed of outside Fukushima Prefecture by 2045, there is no prospect of the location and method of final disposal, and the issues surrounding decontamination are issues. It remains.
