The prefect of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region Fabien Sudry announced on Thursday the commissioning on March 15 of three radar cars in the Côte-d'Or department.

This decision has two objectives, explains

Le Bien public

.

The device will allow law enforcement to focus on more operational tasks such as roadside checks.

It will also offer a more effective fight against excessive speed, responsible according to the prefect for a third of fatal accidents in the department.

19 radar cars in the region

These radar cars will control "vehicles they pass (except in the case of a central separator) and those which pass them (up to three lanes on their left)," the statement said

.

A total of 19 radar cars will be deployed in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region.

Three should be permanently present on the roads of Côte-d'Or.

Vehicles of this type in circulation since February 14 in Saône-et-Loire have made it possible, in four days, to identify 427 offenses.

The driving of these vehicles is entrusted to private operators.
