According to Kawasaki City, the person who died was a boy under the age of 10 living in a municipality in Kanagawa prefecture who had a disability and was wearing a respirator.
The boy had fever and coughing symptoms on the 8th of last month and was taken to a hospital in Kawasaki City for emergency. At that time, the boy was confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus and died the next day.
The cause of death is pneumonia caused by a new coronavirus infection.
The route of infection was unknown, and subsequent infections in the family were confirmed.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, it is the first time in Japan that a child under the age of 10 has been infected with the new corona and died by confirmation by the 1st of this month.
