On the 4th, a spokesman for the Hong Kong SAR government said that the supply of fresh food imported from the mainland to Hong Kong was stable yesterday (March 3).

According to the latest statistics, the supply of vegetables arriving in Hong Kong by land and water from the mainland yesterday (as of midnight) was about 2,500 tonnes.

Among them, about 801 metric tons of vegetables from the Mainland supplied to Hong Kong through the wholesale markets of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and the Vegetable Marketing Organization, the overall vegetable wholesale price dropped slightly.

On the 3rd, the volume of chilled pork imported from the mainland to Hong Kong was about 90 metric tons, which continued to be higher than the usual level and was about 1.8 times the usual supply from the mainland.

The volume of chilled poultry also continued to rise to about 220,000, more than 10% of the usual mainland supply.

About 8,400 live chickens were slaughtered locally yesterday, about 75% of the average daily supply last year.

In terms of egg supply, the wholesale market has stable and abundant supply, with an average daily supply of 4 million eggs in the past week.

In terms of rice, according to the requirements of the SAR government, rice storage companies must keep enough stock for 15 days' consumption by the public.

According to the industry, in addition to the regulations of the SAR government, they will generally store twice as much stock, which is enough for Hong Kong citizens to eat for a month.

The spokesman said that the SAR government will continue to closely monitor the food supply situation in the market and maintain close ties with major suppliers and the Mainland to ensure a stable food supply.
