On May 5, 2022, the Disney and Marvel film Doctor Strange: Into the Multiverse of Madness, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, will premiere in Russia.

The premiere of the film should be one of the main ones for the film studio in 2022.

On February 28, it became known that the popular streaming service Netflix refused to broadcast 20 domestic free federal TV channels, while from March 1, 2022, their mandatory broadcasting was provided for by Russian law.

“Given the current situation, we have no plans to add these channels to our service,” a Netflix spokesperson told Variety.

The list of 20 channels includes Channel One‎, Rossiya‎, NTV and Spas‎.

In November 2021, Roskomnadzor added the streaming service to the register of audiovisual platforms, which are visited daily by over 100,000 users.

At the time, Netflix was the only foreign service to make the list.

Registry platform owners, in particular, must prevent their services from being used to commit crimes.

Such platforms are required to set age limits for films and series, as well as broadcast 20 state-owned TV channels.

It is also reported that the leadership of Hollywood studios is considering the possibility of abandoning the rental in Russia in connection with the events in Ukraine.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this decision may be due to the likelihood of Russia disconnecting from the SWIFT payment system.

It is noted that in this case it will be difficult for foreign companies to receive money from local representative offices.

However, the Motion Picture Association of America declined to comment on the matter.

Earlier it became known that a petition appeared on the website of the Ukrainian Film Academy calling on the international film community to boycott the Russian film industry.

The petition says that the result of the entry of Russian films into the programs of major film festivals is an increase in loyalty to Russian culture.

Thus, the Ukrainian side believes, Russian films should not participate in international reviews.
