Series Mania, the international series festival of Lille, has decided to entrust the presidency of the jury of its international competition to the Ukrainian producer, Julia Sinkevych, the organizers announced this Wednesday in a press release.

"By proposing this presidency to Julia Sinkevych, who proudly wears the colors of culture in a bruised country, we will bear witness to the role of festivals in a world in crisis", underlined Rodolphe Belmer, president of Séries Mania, Laurence Herszberg, general manager and the festival team.

“We have always said that the series are the mirror of an era and resonate through their stories, their characters, their subjects, continues the press release.

Mania Series has never ceased to reflect this intimate and uninterrupted dialogue between culture and society.

This is why it seems essential to us today to turn our gaze to the dramatic situation which is shaking Ukraine and the whole world.

His presence in Lille is "still not guaranteed"

Due to the Russian invasion, the presence of the producer in Lille is still uncertain: "His presence in Lille not being guaranteed, we asked Marc Dugain, a great French writer and director, to take over the vice-presidency of its jury", specified the organizers.

Quoted in the press release, Julia Sinkevych said she was "moved and honored".
