Rock singer Iggy Pop was supposed to have played at the Park Live Festival in Moscow in June, but announced yesterday, in a post on social media, that he is canceling.

Newsweek quotes a tweet from Iggy Pop's staff:

"In the light of current events, this is necessary.

Our thoughts are with the Ukrainians and all the brave people who stand up to this violence and seek peace, "they write.

According to TMZ, the rock band The killers will not participate in the festival either.

Several cancellations after the invasion

Other artists and groups that have already announced that they are canceling concerts in Russia are Bring me the horizon, Louis Tomlinson, Franz Ferdinand and Green day, reports Newsweek.

The artist Yungblud is also canceling his gigs in the country.

He writes on social media that he is "heartbroken" because he "knows that the brutal acts that took place in Ukraine do not reflect the people he previously met in Russia" and that his heart is with the people of Ukraine.

The Italian rock band Måneskin would have gone out with new dates for their upcoming European tour, but now writes on social media that the band has to wait due to the increased tensions in Europe.

Swedish artists cancel

The Swedish collective Drain Gang and the Swedish rock band Lucifer are also canceling their concerts in Russia, reports P3 Musiknyheter.

"We said we would play as long as there are no bombs and people die, but now it is impossible," the band wrote in a statement to the program.

Swedish Adam Beyer tells P3 Musiknyheter that he plays for "the people" and not for the government, but that he too has come to the conclusion that it is no longer possible to go to Russia.
