Miyagi Prefecture and Sendai City announced on March 1 that 639 people in the prefecture were newly confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus.
Also, two deaths were announced.
The cumulative total of infected people in Miyagi prefecture was 40,1024, and the total number of infected people who died was 143.
