Thank you so much, bye!

[Explanation] On February 27, the Hong Kong Racial Inclusion Education and Welfare Association organized the "Fighting the Epidemic Together" activity to distribute epidemic prevention materials to ethnic minorities in Yat Tung Village, Tung Chung.

Bai Junda, founder of the Hong Kong Racial Inclusion Education and Welfare Association, introduced that for this event, they have prepared 2,000 anti-epidemic materials, including 1,000 rapid test kits and 500 masks and hand sanitizers, hoping to support local ethnic minorities to fight the epidemic at home .

Today we came to Yat Tung Village in Tung Chung. Today we will distribute rapid test kits, hand sanitizers and masks. We will distribute (sets) to each family layer by layer according to the list later.

[Explanation] With the growth of Hong Kong's population, Tung Chung has become one of the areas inhabited by ethnic minorities.

According to the 2016 Hong Kong by-census, among the residents of North Lantau, the South Asian population accounted for 5.3%, which is five times higher than the overall proportion of Hong Kong of 1.1%.

Mr. Chen, a Pakistani-origin volunteer who has lived in Tung Chung for many years, said that there have been cases of infection in Yat Tung Village, but since there is no nucleic acid testing site nearby, many residents need to conduct nucleic acid testing across districts. In order to facilitate local residents and help fight the epidemic, they actively do Coordinate the work well, including contacting residents, arranging booths, coordinating and coordinating, etc.

It's been very hard recently, they (minorities) want nucleic acid testing.

Because there is no nucleic acid testing station in our Yat Tung Village, the residents of our place have to take their children to Tsuen Wan or the airport (for testing). Before (taking) children to queue for 3 or 4 hours, it was raining and cold at that time. The children at home get sick, so it is very inconvenient.

[Commentary] Recalling the preparatory work, many volunteers said that it was not smooth at first, because the market price of the rapid test kits rose sharply at that time and the supply of goods was in short supply, which made the preparatory work difficult, but fortunately after they released the news, Get immediate support from all walks of life.

This time, by contacting different community organizations, we provided 1000 doses of rapid test kits to everyone, hoping to help ethnic minorities.

In addition to this event, we will hold one or two more distribution events next week or even before the end of March, hoping to help more people.
