"Due to the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and the tragic humanitarian crisis, we are pausing cinema releases in Russia, including the upcoming film Red from Pixar," said a statement from Disney, reports Variety.

"In view of the growing refugee crisis, we will in the meantime work with organizations to provide emergency assistance and other humanitarian assistance to refugees," the statement continues.

Shortly after Disney's announcement, film company Warner announced that the film The Batman, which premieres this week, will not be shown in Russian cinemas.

Similar news came later from the film company Sony Pictures.

Among other things, screenings of the film Morbius, which should have had its cinema premiere in April, are canceled.
