Accused of cheating in medical prescriptions .. the latest developments in the trial of the "curcumin doctor"

Today, the Economic Court in Egypt postponed the first session of the trial of the accused, Ahmed Abu Al-Nasr, known in the media as the "curcumin doctor", on charges of cheating in medical prescriptions and impersonating a doctor and other accusations, to March 8, according to the Egyptian newspaper Al-Watan.

The Egyptian security forces arrested the pharmacist, Ahmed Abu Al-Nasr, on February 20, and he was presented to the Public Prosecution, which investigated and interrogated him, and presented him on today's date to the competent court, which ordered his continued detention and set a session to consider the case.

The Egyptian Public Prosecution had received the investigations of the Department of Combating Works Crimes at the General Department of Works Investigations and the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights, and included that the accused managed and established a satellite channel and an electronic channel on YouTube, in which he claimed that he is a specialist doctor and a healer of herbs and natural plants, and that he promoted in these two channels the sale of medicines and plant preparations. , claiming its ability to cure various diseases, and its superiority over synthetic drugs.

According to Al-Watan newspaper, investigations revealed that the accused had taken his place of residence as a base for practicing his criminal activity, and administering the two aforementioned channels, as well as announcing some places as outlets for selling what he was offering. Permission to seize him, and to search his residence and the sales outlets that he announced. Executing the permission and inspecting the outlets resulted in the discovery of drug products of unknown origin.
