A 37-year-old man drove into a door of the Al-Badr mosque in Meaux (Seine-et-Marne) with his ex-girlfriend's car this Saturday morning around 11:20 a.m.
He would suffer from psychological disorders, report Le Parisien.
Examined by a doctor and then by a psychiatrist, he was placed in a psychiatric unit.
Justice ruled out terrorist intent.
Two doors of the religious establishment were damaged, but no casualties were reported.
The mosque was able to open this Sunday with the ground floor temporarily condemned.
Arrested in the Yvelines
According to information from the daily, the suspect repeatedly drove into the doors of the mosque, until entering the hallway with the Chevrolet he was driving.
He then parked in the site car park and then walked to Meaux station to catch his train.
Sentenced for domestic violence last November, the individual was arrested on Saturday evening in a supervised home in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines).
