Under these circumstances, an organization established with the support of the Nippon Foundation has opened a new breast milk bank in a building in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, and will start full-scale operation from April.

This facility can store 5500 liters of donor milk, which is five times that of conventional facilities, and is expected to deliver stable delivery to babies in need.

Professor Katsumi Mizuno of Showa University School of Medicine, who is the representative director of the Japan Breast Milk Bank Association, said, "I am very grateful that there were cases where I had to refuse because there was no storage space for those who wished to register as a donor. I want people to know that the risk of serious illness for newborn babies can be reduced. "
