A new river shuttle provides crossings of the Seine, in Rouen (Seine-Maritime)
,
between the right bank and the left bank.
The problem is that it
is now paying on weekdays, explains
Actu.fr.
This new electric boat, named Calypso - and arrived from Lake Geneva - has joined the public transport offer of the Rouen Normandy Métropole's Tip network, in the same way as buses and trams, specifies
France 3
.
In the summer of 2019, the metropolis put into service, on an experimental basis, the catamaran Felix de Azara
,
owned by the Rouen Port Union.
An electric boat powered by its 50 square meters of solar panels, to connect the Jean-Ango pontoon (right bank) to the one located in front of 108 (headquarters of the metropolis), left bank.
Although the shuttle "did not attract crowds", notes the local information site (about 1,000 passengers per week to put into perspective the million daily trips in the Rouen conurbation), the community has decided to make it permanent. .
It is now Normandie Croisières which provides Calypso (an electric vessel with a capacity of 49 people).
By "2024", two other boats could thus be put into service
The tickets to get on board are the same as on the rest of the metropolitan network, from 1.70 euros per ticket valid for one hour.
Note that no ticket purchases can currently be made in the shuttle.
However, navigation remains free on weekends.
The crossings are carried out at a regular rate depending on the number of visitors.
"If a person wishes to take the shuttle and that the latter is moored on the other side, all he has to do is make a gesture to signal his intention to cross", specifies
France 3
.
According to
Actu.fr
, a third phase in the development of river connections is currently “under study”, aiming to deploy other shuttles across the Seine for so-called “active” travel (pedestrians, cyclists, etc.).
By “2024”, two other boats could thus be put into service, “to the west and east of Rouen, beyond the bridges”.
