On February 24, local time, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his decision to take special military operations in the Donbas region.
Putin said that in view of the continuous eastward expansion of NATO and the deterioration of Russia's security environment, Russia had to make this decision.
Russia has no intention of occupying Ukrainian territory.
Putin called on Ukrainian soldiers to lay down their weapons and go home, saying that all Ukrainian servicemen who abide by the request will be able to leave the war zone unhindered and return to their families.
