Storm Eunice deprived Abbeville (Somme) of one of its most beautiful trees.

A magnificent giant sequoia in Emonville Park has been decapitated by the strong gusts that have hit the region in recent days.

The wind indeed blew at more than 120 km/h, reports

A sculpture from the trunk

This tree was probably planted by the Fouques d'Émonville family in the 19th century and was therefore almost 200 years old, indicates the local weekly.

A heritage that the town hall now wants to highlight in another form, despite the traces of the storm.

The heritage assistant Florence Petit would like to make a sculpture from what remains of the trunk.

Another tree will then be planted on the site of the giant sequoia.
