The fifth wave of the new crown pneumonia epidemic in Hong Kong continued to be severe. On February 22, in order to control the severe epidemic situation as soon as possible, the Mainland Aid Hong Kong Anti-epidemic Medical and Epidemic Prevention Task Force (hereinafter referred to as the Task Force) will continue to stay in Hong Kong, and will support health care in the next few days. The epidemiological investigation of the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health will continue until 28 February.

  On the same day, the team and representatives of the Department of Health visited the laboratory of the School of Public Health of the University of Hong Kong, and discussed with Prof. Pan Liewen and his team on the application of gene sequencing to epidemiological investigation and analysis.

Afterwards, Zhang Yurun, Deputy Director of the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission, together with the task force, met with the Director of Health, Dr Lin Wenjian, and the Director of the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health, Dr Xu Lejian.
