In 46 seconds, the athlete who fell backwards could not stand up by himself, but Li Zhenhua and Ma Pengcheng had already arrived at the scene.

The live broadcast of the game has not had time to broadcast a slow-motion replay.

The orange jacket with the striking red cross printed on it, the "ski doctor" known as the "Lancet on the Snow" is another "landscape" on the snow field.

Every second counts, and their mission must be fulfilled. As medical workers who know the potential risk of injury and disease, they have received skiing training for many years, only to protect the lives and health of others.

  Don't worry, here we come

In the women's snowboard slalom chase at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Andorran athlete Esther Weiss fell and was injured. The ski doctors at Genting Ski Park immediately staged a textbook-level on-site rescue. The whole process was smooth and safe. , no secondary damage.

According to the requirements, whether it is mushroom trails, U-shaped grooves, slope obstacles or platform jumps, where there is an injury to an athlete, the ski doctor must arrive at the scene within 4 minutes, and transfer the injured off the track within 10 minutes.

"Although the athlete was able to get up on her own at the beginning, it was difficult for her to go down on her own." Li Zhenhua and Ma Pengcheng reported on the scene after the first brief treatment, fixed the injured on the rescue boat, and transferred them to the athlete medical station for handover. Area.

In the simulated rescue training, ski doctors usually focus on practicing skills, competing for time, clarifying diagnosis and treatment specifications, etc. However, when they arrive at the real Winter Olympics, they are faced with athletes who are full of dreams but accidentally injured, especially those who have to be transported away. At that moment on the field, the wounded who had "broken mentality" needed not only treatment, but also comfort.

"At that time, I felt that she was very difficult. Maybe the game could not be completed. She was injured and hurt. We should try our best to appease her emotions." Li Zhenhua said.

  Bless life, with me

The ski doctor has to stand in the snow field with an average temperature of -10 ℃ for 3-4 hours every day. If the body freezes, it will affect the sliding and rescue.

To this end, they have to wear seven or eight layers of clothes and "wrap themselves up very bloated".

Not only that, in order to protect against epidemics, ski doctors must wear masks even when sliding.

The upper edge of the mask should be pressed into the snow goggles, and the breath will overflow along the upper edge. When the wind blows, the snow goggles will become an "ice shell", and the visibility will be greatly reduced.

Li Zhenhua and his teammates came up with a solution: use tape and Vaseline to seal the mask every day, and then tighten the snow goggles to press down hard to prevent the snow goggles from fogging as much as possible.

And heavier than clothes, is the rescue bag.

Each backpack weighs at least 10 kilograms, and if it is not fixed properly, it will be dragged around while sliding.

In the rescue kit, the ski doctors will deliberately label some medicines as "warm babies" to prevent them from failing or freezing in the low temperature environment of the arena.

With these preparations in place, the work of the ski doctor is just beginning.

During the game, they cannot move around freely, because in the sight of the athletes moving at high speed, it is necessary to avoid moving objects, otherwise it is likely to cause interference.

"How tiring can you be standing there? That's because you underestimate the consumption of energy. When the athlete sets off, my heart is lifted." There are many competitors in the obstacle chase competition, and Li Zhenhua must keep an eye on each athlete. During the game, predict the possible injury by falling.

In the severe cold of wind, sword and frost, the spirit is always tense, and the rescue is always ready.

"The pressure is still very high. When I see an athlete wrestling, my spirit immediately rises, and I feel blood rushing to my head." Li Zhenhua said, "I often see the athlete again and continue to slide, and a stone in my heart will be broken. landed."

  State recruitment, I will come

Can someone who can ski and understand first aid become a ski doctor?

In fact, ski rescue is very professional, and a doctor who can ski needs a lot of professional training to become a qualified ski doctor.

Different from the pursuit of speed and attitude in daily skiing, rescue gliding skills should serve to ensure rescue speed and safety.

"With the cold and strong wind, the difficulty of carrying out 'fast, safe, effective and standardized' medical rescue in complex terrain and intense events will increase exponentially." Li Zhenhua said.

In order to make every effort to provide medical support for the Beijing Winter Olympics, in 2019, the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee selected a group of doctors in Beijing and Hebei. For the past three years, professional ski rescue training has been carried out in each snow season, and a team of "Winter Olympics" has been formed. Olympic Ski Medical Insurance Dream Team".

After layers of screening and assessment, Li Zhenhua from the Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University and Ma Pengcheng from the Third Hospital of Peking University were finally selected.

During training, falls are the norm, and injuries are inevitable.

Sometimes the lowest temperature can reach -25℃. Due to the requirement of snow road rescue, warm gloves cannot be worn, so the team members wear surgical gloves to complete the rescue operation.

Players often suffer from frostbite, or skiing mistakes, resulting in knee meniscus injuries or even fractures.

"But we all overcame difficulties and illnesses, and for the sake of our common dream, we finally came here to become a Chinese ski doctor with real alpine snow rescue capabilities. We have the ability and confidence to complete the glorious task entrusted to us by the country!" Li Zhenhua was full of joy Confidence, the ski doctors will devote themselves to the protection of the Winter Paralympics.
