On Twitter, the Stop Terra 2 collective rejoiced in a victory "for all those who have been fighting for years against this ecocide and climaticide symbol".

The activists, who had briefly blocked the seven-hectare construction site and participated in several demonstrations, claim in particular to fear for the protected species which were on the site and that the warehouses under construction will be rented to an e-commerce giant like Amazon.

The promise of “2,200 jobs”

According to the judges, the destruction of a dozen protected species is not sufficiently justified for the project to benefit from an exemption.

In a press release, the local public development company (SPLA), responsible for the work on the Portes du Tarn business park, announced that it would appeal to the administrative court of appeal.

The company, supported by local elected officials, ensures that "the environmental and economic ambitions of the Portes du Tarn make it an exemplary operation", with "the opportunity to create 2,200 local jobs".

She also formally denies the arrival of Amazon.

For their part, the citizen groups “now ask elected officials to face their responsibilities” and “the prefecture to enforce the law by immediately closing the site.

The suspension is valid until the judgment of the case on the merits.
