On Thursday, the National Assembly provided for the final adoption of the bill on the change of surname.

Presented by the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, as a text "which repairs", awaited by "many of our fellow citizens to soothe the pain of bearing a name", which recalls an unfortunate intimate story, the bill of the deputy LREM Patrick Vignal "relating to the choice of the name resulting from the filiation" aims to come into force in July.

The child, at the age of 18, will be able to choose his family name to keep that of his mother, that of his father, or both.

In addition, parents will be able to ask the town hall to change the name of use (of the daily newspaper) of their minor child.

If you want to change your surname, tell us why.

Is it because it reminds you of a painful family history?

Or because it is a difficult name to bear?

Or because your brothers and sisters have a different name and you want to have the same one?

Is this an old desire for you?

What effects do you expect from this name change in your daily life?
