Director Sherif Arafa: Egyptian cinema is the second force after the army!

Egyptian director Sherif Arafa said that Egyptian cinema is the second force after the army, and it is very influential abroad, adding that his generation inherited the Egyptian cinema and its importance, "When we do not work from reality and a sense of responsibility towards this cinema, there will be a shortage, because we will lose a very great strength." Arafa called on "anyone who works in this field, whether he is a critic, artist or scriptwriter, to think about the responsibility he bears to continue the legacy of Egyptian cinema."

Arafa recalled the beginning of his relationship with cinema, saying, "It was through heredity, and for me it is not just something I love to become a director, but it has been rooted in me through my work with my father and great professors who created and made Egyptian cinema. We inherited Egypt's soft power from these professors."

Arafa recalled the famous incident when an Arab citizen stopped President Gamal Abdel Nasser during his visit to an Arab country and said to him, "Say my greetings to Ismail Yassin."

Arafa saw that each generation has its own specifications, and the most important feature in the old generation is that it is linked to the assets and rules more than the new generation, as no one is better than the other because every generation is affected by society and its circumstances, and every generation carries the characteristics of society with all its flaws and all its advantages.

Arafa added to Al Arabiya.net, "When I decide to present a film, my first goal is the audience, because the ultimate goal is the broad base of the film. It is not believable to the director who says that success at festivals and receiving awards is more important than mass success at the box office. I present a film to the public first before participating in the festivals.

The well-known Egyptian director said, "We do not have a broad base for the actor in Egypt, and I do not make a movie for a specific star, but on the contrary, I am looking for a star that fits the role."

Arafa said that cinema is going well, and even if she gets sick, she does not die. In the sixties, when production weakened, a new generation appeared after that, for example, Atef Al-Tayeb, Khan and Bishara, and they presented a new shift in cinema, then my generation came after that. Cinema injected itself and we are optimistic despite many difficulties. passed out.
