The owner of the “Ismailia bride” incident appeared in an interview with media outlets, during which he apologized to his wife, stressing that his talk about beating women in Upper Egypt was misinterpreted by some TV channels.
The owner of the incident said: "I apologize to all the six of Egypt who are above my brain, to my wife, my cousin, and to the great Ismaili people to which I belong."
He added: "With regard to the issue of the journalist - without mentioning names - it did not happen that I spoke to him in the amount of 100,000 pounds to appear in the media, thank God we do not need anything from anyone, and I do not have accounts on Facebook in my name or the name of my brothers. "
The owner of the controversial incident continued: "I repeat my apologies to all of Egypt's women and to my wife, and I spoke instinctively and some channels misunderstood my words and included them in a topic outside of what happened."
The pioneers of social networking sites had circulated a video of the incident that sparked a wave of resentment, as a young man on his wedding day hit his bride in front of passers-by on a street in Ismailia Governorate, and started punching and slapping her without regard to any moral or family considerations.
