[Commentary] Due to the severe new crown pneumonia epidemic in Hong Kong, land transportation between the mainland and Hong Kong has been affected. At 4 am on February 19, a freighter with the message "Hand in Hand, Fighting the Epidemic Together" slowly sailed into the Pearl River in Yau Ma Tei, Hong Kong Pier one.

It is reported that this is the first batch of fresh vegetables supplied to Hong Kong by water, which is jointly coordinated by Guangdong Guangnan Line and Pearl River Shipping, and will be supplied to Hong Kong citizens on the same day to protect the "vegetable basket" of thousands of households.

[Explanation] The first batch of 200 boxes of fresh vegetables, totaling 3 tons, were packed by Guangzhou Panyu Lianhuashan Wharf and sent to Hong Kong.

The reporter saw at the scene of the Pearl River Pier No. 1 in Yau Ma Tei, Hong Kong that after the cargo ship was docked, the container on the ship was unloaded by a jib truck, and then moved to the unloading area.

Afterwards, relevant personnel from the Food Safety Centre of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department of the SAR Government, the Marine Department of the SAR Government and the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department checked and accepted the containers.

Huang Aiwu, vice chairman of Guangdong Guangnan Branch, told reporters at the Yau Ma Tei site that after Guangdong-Hong Kong land transportation was blocked, Guangdong Guangnan Branch planned water transportation with the Hong Kong industry, and the mainland and Hong Kong SAR governments also attached great importance to the process. support.

After the (land) driver was infected, the land (customs clearance) was blocked. We planned this matter with the industry and reported to the relevant departments. The mainland and Hong Kong SAR governments have attached great importance to it.

We all feel that this incident is highly supported by the mainland and Hong Kong SAR governments, so (the process) is very smooth.

[Explanation] Huang Aiwu said that in the future, he will continue to improve the operational details of water transportation, gradually increase the shipping frequency and the supply of vegetables, chilled meat and eggs, and stabilize the supply of fresh meat and vegetables to the market.

We consider that in addition to vegetables, we can also supply some chilled meat and eggs. We will try these.

As a state-owned enterprise, we, Guangdong Guangnan Branch, should be responsible. We feel that we can do real things for the people of Hong Kong, and we think it should be.

[Explanation] When Huang Aiwu talked about his personal feelings, he said, "The epidemic is ruthless, but people have feelings."

I believe that with the motherland as the strong backing of Hong Kong, we will be able to overcome the epidemic.

[Concurrent] Huang Aiwu, Vice Chairman of Guangdong Guangnan Bank

"The epidemic is ruthless, but people are affectionate." I believe that the epidemic in Hong Kong will soon pass, especially with my motherland as a strong backing, whether it is material, manpower or technology will give strong support, so the epidemic is not terrible.
