The arrest of a Syrian YouTuber for distributing money to people in an “insulting” way

The Syrian security services arrested the YouTuber Youssef Qabbani, after widespread criticism, and controversy on social media platforms, because he distributed the money in a way that many considered “humiliating” to the people in central Damascus, in an effort to obtain video clips to publish on “Social Media.”

YouTuber Fayez Kanfash, Qabbani's half-brother, said in a recording on his YouTube channel that the security forces arrested Youssef in Damascus last Tuesday.

He expressed his belief that the procedure is routine after criticism of the way he distributes money in the streets of Damascus and portrays the needy in a provocative manner.

A few days ago, Qabbani, who is residing in Britain, sparked a wide wave of controversy, punctuated by demands for his arrest and accountability, after he provocatively distributed sums of money in envelopes to the people in the streets of the capital, Damascus.
