The Air Self-Defense Force's "Blue Impulse" used color smoke at a height below the appropriate altitude on the day of the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Paralympics last year, and the Air Self-Defense Force did not have a proper standard for using it. We have summarized the results of the investigation that the cause is.

The Japan Air Self-Defense Force's aerobatic team "Blue Impulse" made an exhibition flight over Tokyo prior to the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Paralympics in August last year, and then landed at the Iruma base in Saitama prefecture at a significantly higher altitude. I used color smoke at a lower height.

The Ministry of Defense is planning to make compensation after confirming the damage, as it has been reported that dye is attached to about 1200 ordinary cars around the base.

Regarding this problem, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force has compiled the findings that it was caused by the fact that the standards for using color smoke were not properly set.

It was announced that it could be used at altitudes of 1000 feet or more during the exhibition flight to coincide with the arrival ceremony of the torch in Miyagi Prefecture, but it was not a clear rule.

In addition, the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics have been postponed for one year, and personnel changes have taken place during this period, which has weakened awareness of the standards.

The Japan Air Self-Defense Force has decided to clarify the standards in the future, saying, "We will fully instill measures to prevent recurrence and strive to restore trust."
