Netflix has released a letter from showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer to fans of Stranger Things.

In it, the filmmakers told the details of the work on the fourth season of the project.

“Nine scripts, over 800 pages, nearly two years of filming, thousands of visual effects, and a runtime nearly double that of any previous season.

The fourth season of Stranger Things turned out to be the most difficult, but it was worth it.

All participants are incredibly proud of the results of our work, and we can’t wait to share them with you, ”the message says.

The writers clarified that the season turned out to be "unprecedentedly long" and will be released in two parts.

The first will be published on May 27, and the second on July 1.

At the same time, the Duffer brothers note, this release will be "the beginning of the end."

“Seven years ago we planned the full storyline for Stranger Things.

Even then, we thought that the story would stretch for four or five seasons.

The plot was too big to fit into four seasons, but as you will soon see for yourself, we are approaching the finale.

The fourth season will be the penultimate one, and the fifth one will be the final one.

Filmmakers admit that there are “many more amazing stories” about the Stranger Things universe with the participation of new characters, but emphasize that they want to finish this one first.

The action of the upcoming fourth season takes place six months after the events described in the third.

According to the plot, following the results of the battle in the shopping center, the established company of friends breaks up.

They become high schoolers, which "doesn't make things any easier either."

“But right now, when the heroes are especially vulnerable, a new, even more dangerous, supernatural threat appears.

Unraveling this terrible mystery could end the horrors of the Upside Down once and for all,” Netflix said in the announcement.

Matt and Ross Duffer previously mentioned that the story won't end with Season 4.

One of the producers and directors of the tape, Shawn Levy, in turn, emphasized that the end of the story is not far off.

He also said that the fourth season will be much bigger and more ambitious than the first three, both visually and in terms of plot.

In addition, Levy did not rule out the possibility of producing other projects, one way or another connected with the TV series "Very terrible things."
