Nikola, a Japanese robotic child with 6 human emotions (video)

Researchers at the RIKEN Guardian Robot Project in Japan have developed a "baby" robot called Nikola, which can communicate six basic emotions, resembling a "scary" human.

Lifelike robots appear to be becoming more common in the real world, and Japanese robots may be one of the most human-like models to date.

According to Russia Today, the robot has mobile “muscles” in its face that allow it to convey happiness, sadness, fear, anger, surprise and disgust.

While the robot currently lacks a body, its developers are aiming to have a range of uses in the near future.
