“This campaign is something that should have been done as soon as the Lubrizol fire in Rouen (Seine-Maritime) in September 2019. We are taking on work that should have been undertaken by the communities.

We want to educate elected officials in the area and show them that carrying out such an operation is possible.

These words, in

Paris Normandie

, are those of Simon de Carvalho.

He is president of the association of victims of Lubrizol.

More than two years after the industrial disaster, he appealed to citizens to find 100 children aged 5 to 15, who live in the Rouen conurbation or the country of Bray, to participate in a campaign to collect hair.

"We want 50 boys and 50 girls, young people rather than adults because they are less exposed to anything tobacco or alcohol," says Simon de Carvalho

Clearly detect the pollutants to which the inhabitants have been exposed

Indicators of the toxicities absorbed in the environment, the hair collected by sampling will be sent to a specialized laboratory located in the Paris region, toxSeek.

Objective: to clearly detect the pollutants to which the inhabitants of the Rouen conurbation have been exposed.

Collection will take place at the end of March in Rouen and Buchy.

The association has managed to obtain a grant of 8,500 euros from the city of Rouen, but hopes for financial aid “from the metropolis, the department and the region and also support from the Normandy regional health agency.

The operation must cost 29,000 euros in total, to try to find out.
