It is nicknamed the “date rape drug”.

On Tuesday, the government launched an awareness campaign against GHB through posters and leaflets distributed in nightclubs for professionals and victims.

“Drugged in spite of you”, says one of these posters, white letters on an orange background, which will be distributed in nightclubs and night bars partners of the Union of Trades and Industries of the Hotel Industry (UMIH).

The posters mention the possibility for the victims of “individualized” and anonymized exchanges “with a gendarme or a specially trained police officer”.

A QR code allows, once scanned, to access a free online chat open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Specially trained police

Thirty-two police officers and 33 specially trained gendarmes are "exclusively dedicated to the platform" arretonslesviolences.gouv.fr, indicates the ministry.

They are based respectively in Guyancourt (Yvelines) and Rennes.

“The use of date rape drugs now constitutes an aggravating circumstance in matters of rape and sexual assault,” the ministry said in a statement.

And to recall that for a rape committed in this circumstance, the sentence was increased to twenty years of criminal imprisonment.

This campaign is part of a broader campaign to combat sexist and sexual violence.
