The lawyers representing the family of film photographer Halyna Hutchins announced at a press conference in Los Angeles that a lawsuit has been filed in New Mexico signed by Hutchins' husband, Matthew Hutchins, and their son, Andros.

Baldwin and the producers' "careless behavior and cost-saving measures" led to the death of Halyna Hutchins, said lawyer Brian Pannish.

Declined no to training

A video created by the lawyers showed an animated rendering of the shooting.

Baldwin aimed a gun at Hutchins during the filming of a scene for the western movie "Rust" in New Mexico on October 21 when it went off, killing Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.

Baldwin has said that he aimed the gun at Hutchins at her instructions and it went off without pushing the trigger.

Lawyers say in the video that Baldwin had refused training for the type of gun he pulled when he shot Hutchins.

Last month, almost three months after the shooting, Baldwin handed over his cell phone to authorities in his home state of New York, who then passed it on to investigators in Santa Fe County, New Mexico.

Three other lawsuits

Investigators have described "some complacency" in how weapons were handled on the "Rust" recording, but that it is too early to decide whether prosecution will be brought.

Baldwin has previously said he does not believe he will be charged.

At least three other lawsuits have been filed, but this is the first directly linked to the victim.

The film's screenwriter and its main camera operator, who were both standing a few meters away when Hutchins was shot, have filed lawsuits for the trauma they went through.
