The city is considered the title of urbanization and urbanization, and people in most countries of the world try to migrate from the village to the city in search of opportunities and a better life. In fact, the word civilization is associated with the city. The word “civilization” is related to the word “civitas” in Latin, meaning any city. Currently, more than 56% of the world’s population lives in cities.

But although the city actually gives opportunities, but at the same time it gives pathogens, and negatively affects the lives of its residents, and unless some basics are provided, such as green spaces, places for entertainment and cultural events, it will already be a cause of depression and mental and physical diseases, not to mention Regarding the long waiting times in each facility and the traffic congestion, which costs a lot of time and effort, and it has been evident since the beginning of the “Covid-19” epidemic, that avoiding crowded cities is an essential and indispensable option, and hence the spread of the concept of the 15-minute city, which is A concept that some countries are trying to implement, including France.

In the 15-minute city, everything residents need is available no more than 15 minutes from their place of residence, shopping and education, events and entertainment, sports are all located within 15 minutes by bike from their place of residence, and of course this requires a high degree of planning urban, as well as the application of smart technology, especially in the transportation network.

Korea was a pioneer, as usual, in many areas to start implementing this concept. It even tried to bypass it and initiated the 10-minute city only, and it seems that it is succeeding in that.

Perhaps the day will come when some Arab countries will catch up and start a new planning different from the traditional planning, and there is no doubt that there is an opportunity to learn from those countries that preceded us.

As for individuals, many are now reconsidering and reconsidering their ideas about the feasibility of the opportunities that large cities can offer. In the United States and European countries, people began to move away from large cities and go where there are larger green spaces, and the development of communication tools and the spread of the concept of working from home, as well as Introducing the idea of work centers on the outskirts of the city to reduce overcrowding in cities. In London, for example, many companies and government institutions rented offices outside the city to workers who are not residing in London to work in them without the need to enter the heart of London, and even began to work scattered work centers throughout Albilad, which are just offices that are rented according to the time used for those whose circumstances do not allow them to work from home.

There are many solutions and successful experiences in several countries to humanize cities and transform them into a healthy place free from congestion, pollution and psychological stress, and at a cost of living within the reach of its residents. There is no doubt that caring for people’s mental and physical health is one of the indicators of the success of any government that is keen to invest in people.

• In the city of 15 minutes, everything that residents need is available no more than 15 minutes from their place of residence.
