A pastoral well is made primarily for watering livestock.

Yagabianga is located in the department of Barh el Gazel Nord in Chad.

We are about 40 kilometers from the town of Moussoro.

Low and variable rainfall in space and time, high temperatures which tend to accentuate aridity, so wells are needed.

Problem: traditional wells use logs taken from an already poor vegetation cover.

It is therefore necessary to deal with questions of pastoral hydraulics, by digging a well with a large diameter and 30 meters deep.

The villages must be able to have water all year round.

At the same time, the imperatives of safeguarding the environment must be taken into account.

To better explain the problem to us, agents from the Chadian Ministry of Livestock and Animal Production took us to visit a modern well in Yagabianga and a traditional well in Moura, 17 kilometers away.
