  Liu Hongchang said that last year, Beijing's capital construction projects achieved remarkable archaeological results, with more than 402 survey projects completed; 254 archaeological exploration projects with an exploration area of ​​18.59 million square meters; 120 archaeological excavation projects with an excavation area of ​​116,000 square meters and about 5,000 unearthed cultural relics. set).

According to the plan, this year, Beijing will promote the "Three-Year Action Plan for the Application and Protection of the Central Axis" to a high standard.

  Liu Hongchang introduced that at present, the central axis application has completed the application-style lease cancellation around the Bell and Drum Tower, the environmental improvement of Diwai Street, the demolition of non-cultural heritage buildings in the core area of ​​Taimiao, and the excavation of water beasts in Zhengyangqiao Town.

The draft application text is submitted to the World Heritage Center for format review in advance.

  Liu Hongchang pointed out that this year is an extremely critical year for the protection of the central axis. Beijing will focus on polishing the application text on the basis of the previous work, and strengthen cooperation with international organizations such as the UNESCO World Heritage Center and the International Council on Monuments and Sites. Communicate and coordinate, study innovative methods for applying for the World Heritage under the condition of normalization of the epidemic, enhance the international influence of the central axis, and complete various tasks with high quality.

  In recent years, Beijing has coordinated the protection, inheritance and utilization of cultural relics around "one axis, one city, two parks and three belts, one district and one center", and polished the "golden business card" of Beijing's historical and cultural heritage.

Among them, "one axis" refers to the protection of the central axis, "one city" refers to the city of museums, "two parks" refer to the Great Wall and the Grand Canal National Cultural Park (Beijing section), and "three belts" refer to the Grand Canal Cultural Belt, the Great Wall Cultural Belt, Xishan Yongding River Cultural Belt, "one area" refers to the demonstration area for the protection and utilization of cultural relics, and "one center" refers to the international cultural relics and artwork trading center.
