"I hope to find an old comrade-in-arms of the 27th Army, as long as he is in the 27th Army, and if he is still alive, it's fine to meet him." The continuously popular films such as "Shuimen Bridge of Changjin Lake" and "Sniper" to resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea were once released. Xu Yuanchuan, a 96-year-old veteran from Shandong Province, has returned to the days of 72 years ago in the snow and ice.

Xu Yuanchuan participated in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression with his father in 1939. Since then, he has participated in many major battles such as the Battle of Menglianggu, the Battle of Weixian, the Battle of Jinan, and the Battle of Huaihai.

In 1947, he entered the guard regiment of the ninth column of the East China Field Army.

In October 1950, his unit was renamed the 27th Army of the Volunteer Army, and was ordered to enter Korea urgently to fight, and participated in many battles such as Changjin Lake, Xinxingli, and Liutanli.

In a recent interview with reporters, Xu Yuanchuan recalled: "Our generation only cares about one thing, that our blood should not be shed in vain. It is right to shed the last drop of blood for the new China." The first battle was with the United States. The first division fought in Liutanli, and the volunteers paid a great price.

Xu Yuanchuan said that on November 27, 1950, the Ninth Corps of the Volunteer Army launched a violent raid, dividing and encircling all the 1st Division of the US Marines and part of the 7th Infantry Division.

"The 1st Marine Division of the United States is the trump card of the U.S. Army, and the opponent is the Long Snake Array. We have to intercept it."

In the Battle of Changjin Lake, the 27th Army carried out a frontal attack on the north of Changjin Lake, relying on night battles and melee combat to win by surprise.

In the end, the 27th Army completely wiped out the US Army's ace polar bear regiment, creating the only example of the Volunteer Army's annihilation of US Army-level combat units in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.

"The scenes of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea will never be forgotten." In those battles branded on Xu Yuanchuan's life, soldiers not only had to face enemy attacks, but also overcome the adverse effects of extremely cold weather.

"Our 27th Army is mostly from Shandong. Knowing that the weather in North Korea is cold, we bought some rabbit skins, fox skins, and dog skins during our stopover. We put these animal skins into the soles of our shoes, so our 27th Army soldiers have relatively few feet frostbite. ." Xu Yuanchuan said.

In the heart of Xu Yuanchuan's daughter Xu Cuifang, she only knew that her father was a veteran, but she never heard her father mention which battles she participated in.

"In my memory, my father has always been a very serious image, and I am a little afraid of him." Xu Cuifang said that in recent years, she brought her father to live with her, and only when she chatted with her father did she find out what his father was in those days. experience.

"My father's memory is very good, and he can recall many details of the battle."

Based on this, Xu Cuifang wanted to record his father's story.

In the "Telephone" story she compiled, her father mentioned that when a soldier faced the enemy's temptation to tell his secret, he shouted, "I want a communist new China without exploitation and oppression, do you have one? Can you give it to me?" Xu Cuifang never thought that such a scene would actually happen to her father.

After Xu Yuanchuan retired in 1983, he has been living in Jinan.

Now he keeps reading the news every day, writing a diary, and telling stories of battles to volunteers who come to visit.

He told reporters that his zodiac sign belongs to the tiger, and 2022 coincides with the year of birth.

The tiger symbolizes strength, courage, and determination. He hopes that the new generation of young people can contribute to the country with the spirit of vitality and the spirit of hard work.
