[Beijing Winter Olympics] Designer of Xue Rongrong talks about the creative process and has drawn more than 10,000 sketches

[Explanation] Recently, the mascot of the Beijing Winter Olympics, Bing Dun Dun, has become a new top-notch sales force. It can be said that a "pier" is hard to find.

Also attracting attention is the Beijing Winter Paralympics mascot Xue Rongrong, whose designer is a post-1995 girl from Jiayin County, Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. She is also a member of the Design College of Jilin Art University. A graduate student.

In September 2018, the Organizing Committee of the Winter Olympics officially solicited the mascots of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics from all over the world. Jiang Yufan signed up to participate in the solicitation.

In the beginning, it was because my professional teacher said in the class that the mascots for the Winter Olympics have begun to be collected. If there is an interested student who wants to participate, go to the studio to find him, so I went with my classmates. The studio found my teacher and participated in this mascot collection activity.

[Commentary] Xue Rongrong was designed with red lanterns as the prototype. When talking about why he thought of lanterns at that time, Jiang Yufan told reporters that it was a warm memory of his hometown from the bottom of his heart, and it was the strong New Year's flavor of the small town during the Spring Festival. Inspired by her creation.

The source of inspiration for the red lanterns mainly comes from my hometown. My hometown is Jiayin County, Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. It is a small border town and a border county. The main feature is the traditional festivals in China, the festival atmosphere is special Thick, especially in the Spring Festival, red lanterns can be seen everywhere.

[Commentary] In January 2019, Jiang Yufan received a call from the school teacher and told her that the mascot was selected. At that time, she still couldn't believe it. Then Jilin Art College transferred professional teachers and Jiang Yufan to form a design team to polish and revise the design plan.

During the period, they went back and forth between Changchun and Beijing nearly 30 times, drew more than 10,000 sketches and came up with 32 sets of plans.

Our team also went through a lot of difficulties when modifying the mascot. One of the more impressive (impressive) is that once we submitted the modification plan, the teacher of the Olympic Organizing Committee gave us the modification suggestion to let us put the red The lantern added animal elements. This is because it is the mascot of the Games, so the teacher of the Olympic Organizing Committee also wanted to make it more alive. We were also confused at the time, so we added antlers to the lantern to make it and deer. Combined, we put wings on the lantern, and wanted to combine it with the kite, but after these plans came out, we felt that they were not ideal until we thought of adding patterns to the head of the red lantern. Cleverly solved this problem.

[Explanation] Xue Rongrong, who added the pattern of the dove arrangement and combination of peace, is more dynamic and vigorous. As the mascot of the Beijing Winter Paralympics, Jiang Yufan said that he hopes it can inspire more people to pursue their dreams bravely.

Red lanterns are self-illuminating objects. We have also added this feature to Xuerongrong's design. We want it to warm the world, light up the dreams in people's hearts, and let more people bravely go there. Pursue your dreams.
