"Chinese red lanterns" are adorable, and the designer of "Xue Rongrong" is a post-95s girl

Recently, with the opening of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, the mascot Bing Dun Dun has become the new top trend. In various Winter Olympic licensed merchandise retail stores, sales are booming, and it is hard to find a "pier".

Also attracting attention is Xue Rongrong, who has received many hot searches. Its designer is a lovely post-95s female student, Jiang Yufan, who is still studying at Jilin Art Institute.

Jiang Yufan told reporters that the prototype of Xuerongrong was the red lanterns hanging at the door of every household during the Spring Festival.

The names of "Xue Rong Rong" are one of inclusive "Rong", the other is "Rong" of fusion, and the middle area is a smudged white snow.

In the Northeast, snowball fights are a common entertainment. Throwing snowballs on each other is cheerful and lively.

She feels lucky that her design works are welcomed by so many people, "because not everyone's efforts can be seen, but I was discovered by everyone."

Because of Xue Rongrong, Jiang Yufan's life has changed a lot. She originally planned to work after graduation. Now she is a graduate student and wants to learn more knowledge and improve her design ability.

I also met Wu Dajing, my favorite Winter Olympics short track speed skating contestant at the mascot release site, and took a photo with him.

Until 1 day before the deadline

She only got inspiration from the Spring Festival in her hometown

Jiang Yufan was born in September 1998. Four years ago, when she first started participating in the design of the Winter Olympics mascot, she was still a junior. The collection started, and I signed up."

"After that, I collected a lot of information and found that 80% of the Winter Olympics are dominated by animal elements, so I originally planned to find an animal representing China and chose elk." Later, she saw that the participating students chose elk. There are more, the instructor said that the item element is also good, she thought of Chinese knots, dumplings and so on.

Jiang Yufan said that she didn't get inspiration from the Spring Festival in her hometown until one day before the deadline, "Because my hometown is in Jiayin County, Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province, which is a small border town. There are red lanterns everywhere, so I thought of the image of red lanterns."

I didn't expect the work to become an Olympic mascot

At the press conference, the whole body was numb with excitement

"I started with a participation mentality. I wanted to motivate myself to improve my design ability through the competition. After the manuscript came out, I never thought that I would be selected." Jiang Yufan recalled that when the school teacher called to inform her that her work would enter the country before it entered the country. Ten, she thought she had encountered a liar.

There are nearly 6,000 people in the primary election, and only when they enter the top ten in the country can the works enter the revision stage.

According to the data publicly disclosed by the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, from August 8 to October 31, 2018, the mascot design proposals for the Beijing Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympic Games were solicited globally, and a total of 31 provincial administrations in China were received. Unit and 5816 works from 35 countries on five continents except China.

For Jiang Yufan, who was in his third year at the time, it was a great honor to be able to enter the revision stage. "From Changchun to Beijing, when I went to a meeting with my teacher, I was still a little shocked. I couldn't believe it. It's like falling pie," she said.

After returning from Beijing, the school organized a professional team to help Jiang Yufan realize his dream of the Winter Olympics.

On September 17, 2019, the mascot Xue Rongrong was officially released.

At the press conference, Jiang Yufan stood in the audience watching the works she created by herself. She told reporters: "At that moment, I was so excited that my whole body was numb."

  Design hides many details

She admits that Xue Rongrong has changed a lot

"The works I designed by myself can be liked by so many people, seen by so many people, and even spread abroad. I am very happy."

In Jiang Yufan's view, Xue Rongrong has made a lot of changes in her life. For example, she originally planned to work after graduation and is now a graduate student, "Because before, as an undergraduate, I followed the teacher's course every day and completed homework. Later, because of the mascot creation, I had many opportunities to be with teachers, communicated with them, learned a lot of skills, took a step forward for my future career planning, and wanted to learn more knowledge."

In addition, the dove of peace and the Temple of Heaven on its head form a continuous pattern, and these tiny details contain the designer's best wishes for everyone.
